I’ve learned a lot about lighting from David Hobby aka “The Strobist“. The above photo is sort of an homage to the creator of the site. Other Flickr users have created variations of the same photo.

Thought I’d try a little macro photography. For this, I handheld my 50mm prime reversed in front of my 75-300 at 75mm. Used a little flash via PocketWizard from the left and bounce from the right. Since this was handheld, focusing was a bit of a problem. For my first try, it turned out rather well I think. No post-production at all. This image is straight out of the camera.

Also, this starts my attempt at a photo a day for 2008. I may not post all of them here, but they will get posted to this Flickr set.
